Job Profile:

Schlumberger has an opening in Houston, Texas for a UX Designer. As a UX Designer, you’ll be responsible for creating visually engaging, interactive experiences for our multi-platform user interfaces. You’ll collaborate with product, engineering and various cross-teams to translate business, user and technical requirements into detailed visual design artifacts that adhere to SLB’s branding and design language standards. The ideal candidate for the role loves constructing visually engaging systems and relishes in the details of production design.

Responsibilities:

Main responsibilities include:

  • Strategize with Design and Product teams to define and establish the look and feel for various user interfaces across cloud, web, mobile, and desktop platforms
  • Work within SLB’s brand and design language guidelines to create layouts and designs that ensure a consistent, integrated brand perception and user-experience
  • Generate, propose and document new ideas, concepts and designs from beginning to end
  • Design and create screen mockups and visual comps that communicate ideas, data and information hierarchies in a clear and visually enticing manner
  • Collaborate with various cross-teams to solve highly complex scientific issues via interaction models, data visualizations and/or user flows
  • Create, organize and maintain production assets via component libraries or design language system
  • Closely work with engineering and/or developments teams to ensure proper implementation of all designed components
  • Juggle multiple projects while effectively managing timelines and expectations
  • Stay on top of the latest standards, changes, and trends in visual design field

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Visual, Web or Graphic Design field
  • A minimum of 5 (five) years of professional experience in designing, implementing and maintaining visual designs and/or design language systems for cloud, web, desktop and mobile platforms
  • Extensive experience in translating low fidelity sketches and wireframes into high fidelity visual mockups and clickable prototypes
  • Advanced knowledge in design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, InVision, Sketch etc.)
  • Well organized, self-starter with the ability to work on multiple projects and geographically dispersed teams and still deliver refined designs in a timely manner
  • Ability to learn new tools quickly and work in an evolving and highly scientific environment
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship
  • Knowledge of Oilfield terminology and business practices (Oil & Gas Industry exposure a plus)
  • Basic front end development or coding knowledge (HTML/CSS) a plus
  • Portfolio examples for cloud, web, desktop and mobile platforms required
