Job Details:

Purpose of Job

  • To provide leadership in developing and implementing digital initiatives across the curriculum which will be reviewed to ensure they are meeting whole school objectives.
  • To lead on the digital aspects of teaching and learning, working alongside the Assistant Head and other members of the management team to ensure that the digital strategy is aligned with the wider strategy and development plans across the Harrow group.
  • To be able to enthuse, inspire and encourage staff to be inventive and experimental in their use of digital technology in the classroom.
  • To promote model technology practice in the classroom and provide coaching to staff to improve their technology practice to maximise the learning potential of pupils.
  • To oversee, manage, implement, and review the main learning platforms, including Teams and the Microsoft 365 Suite.
  • Working with teaching staff in developing digital technology in curricula, to develop STEM co-curricular projects.
  • To effectively allocating and managing resources to support strategic priorities in digital and to provide leadership in the purchase and acquisition of new technology and equipment in consultation with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the implementation of a whole school digital literacy programme, to ensure that pupils and teachers are kept up to date with the latest safeguarding information relating to technology.

Duties and Responsibilities

Digital Strategy and Leadership (50%)

  • Lead the school in all aspects of its digital development including the formulation and implementation of the school’s Digital Transformation
  • Work alongside the Harrow Group and School Leadership Team, leading on ensuring that the software and hardware infrastructure of the School is capable of supporting the digital vision
  • Proactively research methods of enhancing teaching and learning to ensure that the School is at the cutting edge of its field, staying abreast of developments within other schools and across the technology sector
  • Play an active role in representing the school externally, taking part in conferences, keeping up to date with digital trends
  • Oversee online and blended learning, futureproofing the School in a context where learning must take place online
  • Manage the use of the school’s VLE, parent and pupil portals and continue to develop these in line with the needs of the school

Teaching and Learning (50% )

  • Work closely with and support the work of the School leadership in implementing the School’s teaching and learning strategy
  • Be the expert in and lead on teaching and learning using digital means; the proportion of teaching time in the class needs to reach 50%
  • Lead on research into digital teaching methods
  • Work with staff and teachers to support them in the use of digital teaching methods in the classroom, advising on hardware and software to support educational outcomes
  • Engage with pupils and parents and keep them up to date with changes in the digital technology and opportunities
  • Work with the Safeguarding Team to implement a digital safety programme within the school.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor degree holder
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the same or similar line of work
  • Personable and culturally sensitive
  • Excellent service mind, communication skills and fluency in speak English
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Be genuinely interested in the business of education
