Main Accountabilities:

• Acting as Form Teacher of a class consisting of up to 24 pupils.

• Responsible for the teaching and learning of the class, assisted by a teaching assistant. (Music, PE and Languages are taught by specialist teachers.)

• Responsible for organising the work of the teaching assistant and will be a member of the Lower School team, sharing in responsibilities for curriculum development, display, performances, trips and organising some aspects of special events.

• Fostering a caring atmosphere and showing commitment to the well-being and social and academic progress of each pupil.

• Act in accordance with relevant legislation in the PRC and Guangzhou, as well as UK guidelines, particularly with regards to educational provision, health and safety initiatives and safeguarding and ensure that all students and staff maintain these standards

Minimum typical education:

• Bachelor's degree or above in education or a core degree subject supported with a relevant teaching certificate

• Teaching qualification

• Ideally with over 2 years of teaching experience, ideally with experience of the IB

• IB, UK curriculum, overseas and international exposure

• Experience of implementing a range of pedagogical techniques, with a track-record of innovation in teaching and learning

Core Professional / Other Competencies required:

• Recent experience of working with students from a variety of cultures

• Proficient and experienced in teaching, ideally with experience of the IB PYP

• Proven track record of outstanding teaching

• Recent experience of working with students from a variety of cultures

• Commitment to issues of equity and working with culturally diverse families

• Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written

• Able to work positively and effectively with students and parents, outside agencies and colleagues

• Committed to raising the achievement and standards of pupils
