The company is committed to the development of the team members’ professional English and has been running this program for over 4+ years. The most recent trainer of 3+ years is leaving China, creating the need to engage a new Business English trainer to continue the program.

Classes and Class Differentiation.

There are two, separate, 2-hour classes each week:
Class 1 – Basic users of English (CEFR levels A1 and A2)

Class 2- Upper Intermediate to Advanced users of English (CEFR levels B1-B2 and C1)

Each class is held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the company’s offices, on separate evenings. The particular evenings can be negotiated with the company.

Focus: Developing professional English skills
The focus for both classes is on developing the following English skills:

- Professional email writing, both to colleagues internally and with suppliers
- Professional English listening skills – colleague conversations, meetings and video/teleconferences
- Professional English speaking skills – colleague conversations, meetings, video/teleconferences, and presentations
- Professional English reading skills – vocabulary, sentence and paragraph structuring, grammar, and sentence improvement

Class Structure, Content and Resources

The trainer-teacher is responsible for developing or sourcing their own content, materials and exercises to use in class, rotating each week’s class focus across the four skillsets outlined above. Classes should include:

Speaking and Listening:

- Situational role plays – for example, phone calls with suppliers, teleconferences, internal meetings, and short powerpoint presentations in English
- Use of audio and video content, both industry-relevant and more broader lifestyle content, with and without subtitles, for listening and vocabulary practice

Business writing practice:

- Emails to suppliers and vendors – practice email tasks; mutual email editing; email improving and editing
- Presentations to colleagues, both in China and the US

Vocabulary development and sentence construction and improvement – worksheets, exercises
