About Company:

Dulwich International High School Suzhou (DHSZ) is a selective, English-medium, co-educational four-year high school. Our students are highly motivated and learning focused which makes it a delight to teach them. The majority of our 560 students are PRC nationals who will pursue their university studies at excellent universities and colleges outside China. To this end, our students opt out of the Chinese education system at the end of junior middle school to follow a curriculum leading to IGCSEs and A Levels.

We are one of a family of schools owned and operated by Dulwich College International (DCI), based in Shanghai. DCI was founded in 2003, with full approval and authority from Dulwich College London and currently owns night schools in China, Seoul and Singapore. Being part of a group of schools offers our teachers and students many opportunities for connections and development outside the school as well.

We are an expanding school, currently in our fifth year of operation. We opened in September 2012 in temporary premises within the beautiful grounds of the prestigious Suzhou High School, in the heart of the old town of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. In August 2015, we moved to our new purpose-built campus which is located in the developing SIP district of Suzhou, right next door to Dulwich’s other school in Suzhou, DCSZ, which is a 3- 18 international school, offering IGCSE and the IB diploma.

Furthermore, we enjoy good relations and maintain a close partnership with the Suzhou High School, which is one of the top ten high schools in China. Our strong connections with both Suzhou High School and Dulwich College London allow us to truly claim that our school is a bridge between the educational traditions of East and West and it is this unique distinction that sets us apart from our competitors.


Job Profile:

We are looking for a strong mathematician whose vision is to see all students develop a passion for Mathematics and also understand its place as an applied subject in the world around them. An adaptable team member who values deepening their own subject knowledge to enable teaching across all aspects of A-Level Mathematics. Experience of teaching mathematics at the highest levels, particularly Further Mathematics and the ability to facilitate preparation for university entrance tests is desirable but not essential.

Start date: August 2022 (may be the possibility of an earlier start for the right candidate.)

Note: Due to the ongoing COVID situation, we are regrettably only able to consider candidates who are either already in China or who are able to travel to China without the need for visa formalities, such as Chinese passport holders. Candidates outside China may apply, however their applications will only be considered once there is clarity about the resumption of international travel.

The successful candidate must be
  • Passionate about Maths and be able to inspire students to study their subject further
  • Capable of delivering Maths knowledge to the depth required at the A2 level
  • Successful in showing student progress so that students are fully prepared for external examinations at IGCSE and A level stages
  • Experienced (or willing to learn) in using formative assessment in order to advance student learning
  • Actively engaged in furthering their own pedagogical knowledge
  • Willing to collaborate with a diverse range of teachers in order to create an engaging classroom
  • Able to differentiate in order to meet the needs of all students, especially within an EAL environment
  • Willing to engage in the student’s own culture (Chinese) in order to fully know your students
  • Knowledgeable in the latest safeguarding systems in order to ensure student wellbeing
  • Eager to fully engage with the students in their Co-curricular activities
  • Adaptable in the classroom in order to make full use of educational technology to meet student needs
  • Able to demonstrate that they hold the highest expectations of the students and themselves.
