Southern University of Science and Technology

The Center for Language Education (CLE) of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), established in November 2015, is a teaching-focused unit.

From its inception, the CLE has attached enormous importance to attracting high-quality talents to its faculty. Currently, the dynamic team at the language center holds 25 full-time teaching faculty, 4 teaching assistants and 4 administrators, all of whom have educational background from world-class universities or have worked abroad in an international context. After six years of development, the CLE has established itself as a highly internationalized department with featured programs, a high-standard teaching team, an innovative and comprehensive student development system, and multi-dimensional teaching and learning resources.

The CLE is dedicated to offering high-quality teaching and the best possible opportunities for foreign language attainment. This is accomplished through a sustainable, multi-dimensional language learning system that is composed of core elements. These include a skills-based pre-sessional training program, leveled SUSTech English course series with a small teacher/student ratio, an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course, innovative interdisciplinary English electives, one-on-one language help service, writing tutorials, writing workshops, as well as many empowering extra-curricular activities ranging from English corners to books clubs. Through these various programs, the CLE strives with passion and creativity towards excellence in global langue teaching and learning!
