It’s no secret that the Chinese education market has an insatiable demand for qualified foreign teachers. Every day there are new language training centers and international schools opening or expanding with new locations around the country. But education isn’t the only industry with a high demand for foreign professionals. The mobile gaming industry in China has seen explosive growth over the last decade, and many expat teachers see this expansion as an opportunity to explore new career options.
China is a powerhouse in the mobile gaming industry and is very proud to have three times as many online gamers as the second-place contender - the USA. Not content simply with domestic dominance, Chinese game developers have been expanding worldwide and grabbing a huge chunk of the overseas market. In order to do this, many online gaming companies are looking for expats currently based in China. In this article, we’re going to take a look at a recent, entry level internship with an online gaming company in Beijing called Oasis Games.
Established in 2011, Oasis Games is a global multi-platform game publisher. Their games have been translated into 16 different languages and published in more than 130 countries, reaching more than 200 million players.
Oasis is committed to bringing the best gaming content to gamers worldwide and have proven knowledge and experience in publishing games overseas via multiple platforms including mobile, web, PC, console and VR. Their games cover a wide spectrum of genres such as fantasy, war strategy, RPG, simulation, action, puzzle, adventure, etc. They customize their product development, operation and marketing plans after comprehensive evaluation of local culture, trends, and gaming habits.
They continue their pioneering presence as the strategic publishing partner of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) Shanghai for the global publishing market—uniquely positioning Oasis Games to bring high quality games to PC and console players worldwide. Their blockbuster online RPG, Legend Online, has attracted over 50 million players and Naruto Online, the award-winning RPG browser-based game of the Naruto franchise, has amassed a global following. Also, Monkey King: Hero Is Back will launch in 2019; the game is produced by Oasis Games, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and intellectual property holder October Media, and developed by HexaDrive.
