Job Profile:

1. Act as an interface between the customer and product development as well as a key relationship builder within the battery materials industry to identify, develop and benchmark new applications / technologies opportunities.
2. Enhance customer proximity to ensure appropriate technical information flow between customer and BASF to drive development of the competitive product technology platforms and long-term innovation pipeline.
3. Establish and develop a global technical management team of technical account management, application technology, as well as innovation management (incl. IP & Licensing management and portfolio management) to grow technical capability for BU’s strategic growth.
4. This position has a seat on the Global BU Leadership Team. The role serves as a main point of contact for the battery materials technology topics and has to act and connect in the global BU organization.

Job Details:
Main Tasks
  1. Lead the technical management team to collaborate closely with commercial and R&D teams to identify customers’ demand / product requirements and coordinate development activities.
  2. Accountable for the effectiveness of technical team to serve customer efficiently in collaboration with global R&D & Sales.
  3. Define and supervise the global innovation management strategy and pipeline. Ensure technology accuracy of the results and recommendations.
  4. Be a key contributor in support of the product development strategy by providing technology concepts for the portfolio, industry input and securing IP / licensing position etc.
  5. Provide technical inputs to strategic projects that facilitate the realization of business strategy.
  6. Manage and align a multitude of interfaces and interdependencies across the organization (R&D, Commercial Account Management, Quality Management, Marketing & Product Management, Strategy etc.) and geographies.
  7. Lead, coach and develop global technical management organization.
  1. Master degree or above. Major in chemistry or chemical engineering, preferably a Ph.D.
  2. Extensive relevant work experiences in Lithium-ion batteries and customer facing experience in Lithium-ion battery are highly preferred.
  3. Possess entrepreneurial drive, thrive in ambiguity / agile, can anticipate and move on market opportunities in unstable environments.
  4. Strong ability to listen, influence and possess strong collaborative leadership skills to align a vast array of internal and external interfaces.
  5. Proven ability to build and lead a strong technology team.
  6. Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment is a plus.
  7. Skilled at both written and oral communication in English and can connect with a variety of audiences (internal / external / large/small, all levels).
